Fox on Rocks, Derby

Women’s only race!

Come help kick off a great weekend and show us what you’ve got. Come ride on some world class trails with the rest of the Foxes. There will be five categories for the event, competing on three trails and the entry fee includes a SHUTTLE to the top. Don’t forget to wear you fanciest socks as there will be a prize for who has the fanciest sock. Enter now and don’t miss a chance to ride with some Foxes.

This women’s only Enduro event was created by the “Dirt Angels”, a Toowoomba Women’s Mountain Biking in 2017.  The Dirt Angels asked if we could take the Fox on Rocks on tour… to Derby.  Hell yeah!
The Derby, Tasmania event is to provide a relaxed, fun entry into the discipline of Enduro. Most MTB riders like going down hill, fast. Women included. Many MTB riders hate racing up hill. This is where Enduro comes in!! However the format is dominated by male rider entries and this may be because of the misconception it is a Down Hill race.

Race Format:
Relaxed! Follow the leader format but course designed to be sequential stages with short transitions. Vertigo Shuttle will be included in the entry price. Self seeding, 30 second release time. Passing on course is part of Enduro racing so call “passing on the left” when you want to pass.

3 Timed Special Stages.
Flickerty Sticks
Monument
Deadly Bugga

  2. Red Fox (Sport Women)
Regular social mountain bikers and want to have a go at some racing but XCO seems too hard and too serious! You are not usually the racing sort but don’t want to “sandbag” the beginners. You’re in it for fun!
  3. Silver Fox: Over 40s. (Masters Sport Women)
Regular social mountain bikers and want to have a go at some racing as well. Having been around the traps for a while and have earned your own category!
  4. Arctic Fox (Beginners)
Shy and wary. Have recently been introduced to MTBing, love it, and want to test your new skills in a fun and supportive environment on the less technical course.
  5. Cub Fox (Juniors)
The young foxes U16’s. You are an up and coming shredder and want to give Enduro a go.

An MTBA race licence is required. Grab a free 8 week free trail membership at https://www.mtba.asn.au/membership/free-trial-membership  Otherwise day licences are available for purchase at time of online registration, as are upgrades if you are a social (non race) MTBA member.
Full face helmet is required for all riders to be eligible under MTBA licence. Juniors must have elbow length sleeves, elbow and knee protection and full finger gloves as per MTBA regulations.
As all the trails are green or blue rating (forget those occasional symbols), any serviceable MTB will suffice.
