Cancer Council Queensland reduces the burden of cancer in the community by funding life saving cancer research, advocacy, prevention programs and support services. They fund more cancer research than any other independent community-based charity in the state and in 2018, they invested $9.4 million into research. Cancer Council Queensland provides an array of support services, both practical and emotional. In 2018, 7855 contacts were made with Cancer Council’s 13 11 20 for information and support and 2619 wig and turbans were provided, 940 families were provided $188,403 of financial assistance and 16845 trips were provided to help cancer patients get to their treatment and medial appointments.
